Former Indian cricketer and arguably the greatest batter of all time, Sachin Tendulkar, lauded Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan saying that he has seen the wicketkeeper-batter play some crucial innings for the Green Shirts.
Tendulkar, who has 100 international tons to his name, stated that Rizwan is fun and he is someone who loves to play mind games with the bowlers.
"Mohammad Rizwan is fun, he's extremely effective. I've seen him play some crucial innings. He's unorthodox, is a very busy player who likes to play with the fielding side's mind and play mind games with the bowlers,” Tendulkar stated during commentary.
Pakistan are currently playing India in the most anticipated match of the ICC World Cup 2023 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, a venue capable of gathering 132,000 spectators at a time.
Despite having a great start, the Green Shirts couldn’t carry on to the momentum and gave away wickets. Rizwan came to bat when Pakistan were 73-2 in just 12.3 overs and provided his side a much-needed breakthrough by building an 82-run stand with skipper Babar Azam before the latter lost his wicket just after completing half-century.
By the time this story was filed, Pakistan were batting 157-3 in 31 overs.
It must be noted that the arch-rivals have crossed paths seven times in the ICC World Cup and the Green Shirts' record isn't something they would like to talk about as they have lost seven out of seven matches against the Blues.
However, after recording wins against the Netherlands and Sri Lanka in the ongoing World Cup, Babar Azam and his men will be doing everything to end their losing streak against the arch-rivals in the mega event.
